Behavioural Activation directly counters the avoidance patterns—loss of interest in and withdrawal from once-enjoyed activities—that typify depression. Psychodynamic therapy, a modern evolution of psychoanalysis, may be used to help patients gain insight into themselves and the situations that overwhelm them.
